The first mechanism is a specially crafted bookmark which provides two-factor authentication. The second mechanism is an interactive custom image which is presented to the user on each login, and which the user has to click on in order to submit his credentials. SSSL's main advantages are its enhanced security and simple deployment. These two defense mechanisms were proven to be the most efficient mechanisms among different defense mechanisms tested in real life experiments. Furthermore, the two mechanisms complement each other: each protects a different secret, creating a safer login method. SSSL may be most useful in preventing a number of phishing attacks at high-value sites such as banking sites and single sign-on sites such as OpenID providers \n

(Download presentation)\n
\n
17:40 - 18:20 A New Approach to XSS Detection using JavaScript modeling[edit | edit source]
\n
Ofer Rotberg, IDC \n

Cross-site Scripting (XSS) has emerged as one of the most prevalent types of security vulnerabilities in web applications. Current defense mechanisms are mainly based on detecting malicious content on HTTP-requests using a negative security logic approach. This approach has known limitations, derived from the difficulty to define all the HTTP-request payload characteristics that may lead to XSS attacks. In this work we present a positive security logic approach to detect and prevent XSS attacks by verifying that every web-page sent back to the user's browser contains only \"legal and original\" code scripts inserted into the HTTP-response by the web application without being influenced by malicious input. Our results show that after a short learning period the XSS detector has zero false-positive and zero false-negative given our prototype limitations. \n

(Download Presentation)\n
\n\n\n\n\n\n"},"langlinks":[],"categories":[{"sortkey":"","*":"Israel"}],"links":[],"templates":[],"images":["OWASP_IL_Sponsors_IDC_New.JPG","OWASP_IL_2009_The_Bank_Job.ppt","OWASP_IL_2009_IdM.ppt","OWASP_IL_2009_ReDoS.ppt","OWASP_IL_2009_SSSL.ppt","OWASP_IL_2009_XSS_detection.ppt"],"externallinks":["http://portal.idc.ac.il/He/Main/about_idc/campus_tour/Pages/MapsDirections1.aspx","http://www.idc.ac.il","http://www-01.ibm.com/software/awdtools/appscan/","http://www.imperva.com"],"sections":[{"toclevel":1,"level":"2","line":"Location and Time","number":"1","index":"1","fromtitle":"OWASP_Israel_2009","byteoffset":0,"anchor":"Location_and_Time"},{"toclevel":1,"level":"2","line":"Contact","number":"2","index":"2","fromtitle":"OWASP_Israel_2009","byteoffset":761,"anchor":"Contact"},{"toclevel":1,"level":"2","line":"Agenda","number":"3","index":"3","fromtitle":"OWASP_Israel_2009","byteoffset":845,"anchor":"Agenda"},{"toclevel":2,"level":"3","line":"14:10-14:40 Identity Theft, Computers and Behavioral Biometrics","number":"3.1","index":"4","fromtitle":"OWASP_Israel_2009","byteoffset":968,"anchor":"14:10-14:40_Identity_Theft.2C_Computers_and_Behavioral_Biometrics"},{"toclevel":2,"level":"3","line":"14:40-15:30 The Bank Job: A hacker\u2019s day of work - Exploiting a vulnerable web site","number":"3.2","index":"5","fromtitle":"OWASP_Israel_2009","byteoffset":1690,"anchor":"14:40-15:30_The_Bank_Job:_A_hacker.E2.80.99s_day_of_work_-_Exploiting_a_vulnerable_web_site"},{"toclevel":2,"level":"3","line":"15:30-16:00 IdM: the missing security link","number":"3.3","index":"6","fromtitle":"OWASP_Israel_2009","byteoffset":2339,"anchor":"15:30-16:00_IdM:_the_missing_security_link"},{"toclevel":2,"level":"3","line":"16:20 - 17:00 ReDoS (Regular Expression Denial of Service) Revisited","number":"3.4","index":"7","fromtitle":"OWASP_Israel_2009","byteoffset":2965,"anchor":"16:20_-_17:00_ReDoS_.28Regular_Expression_Denial_of_Service.29_Revisited"},{"toclevel":2,"level":"3","line":"17:00 - 17:40 SSSL: Server Side Secure Login to Phish-Protect your website","number":"3.5","index":"8","fromtitle":"OWASP_Israel_2009","byteoffset":3639,"anchor":"17:00_-_17:40_SSSL:_Server_Side_Secure_Login_to_Phish-Protect_your_website"},{"toclevel":2,"level":"3","line":"17:40 - 18:20 A New Approach to XSS Detection using JavaScript modeling","number":"3.6","index":"9","fromtitle":"OWASP_Israel_2009","byteoffset":4707,"anchor":"17:40_-_18:20_A_New_Approach_to_XSS_Detection_using_JavaScript_modeling"}],"displaytitle":"OWASP Israel 2009","iwlinks":[],"properties":[]}}
